building facade
Meta Description: LED facade lighting case study in Spain combining 20×20 SPI RGB IP65 neon flex and DMX512 36W wall washers with Art-Net/MagicQ control and remote commissioning.
In this LED facade lighting case study from Spain (April 2023), I combined 20×20 SPI-RGB IP65 neon flex with DMX512 RGB 36W wall washers to deliver a clean, media-ready architectural look with reliable show control.
LED Facade Lighting Case Study: Objectives
The client required seamless integration with their MagicQ show workflow, precise pixel control for neon flex, and a coordinated wash layer. They also needed clear brightness guidance for two silicone finishes and flexible wiring options to speed installation.
Solution and Products
We proposed an Art-Net–compatible control architecture that the client could drive from MagicQ, while supporting pixel content via their preferred software (e.g., MADRIX). The lighting package used:
- 20×20 SPI-RGB IP65 neon flex for crisp linear effects
- DMX512 RGB 36W wall washers for uniform facade wash
To address aesthetics, we supplied two neon flex samples: white silicone (higher luminance) and black silicone (lower luminance). The client’s engineer chose black for its architectural expression.
Implementation and Control Integration
When the client couldn’t initially light the samples, our engineer remotely configured their PC for correct SPI mapping—testing worked immediately. The sample’s side-exit cable was later revised to back-exit for the production run to simplify mounting. During commissioning, their software allowed only one IC type at a time; we resolved this by using two sub-controllers on the same PC—one for SPI neon flex and one for DMX wall washers—set up separately. We completed online tuning and supplied an operation video so their team could replicate the process.
Results
The facade now runs synchronized neon and wash scenes with stable Art-Net/MagicQ integration, the desired darker visual from black silicone, and clean cable routing. Delivery met the program, and on-site commissioning finished smoothly with remote support from JUXUANLED.
